Starlink 15-16
Vandenburg is the new LC 40 with new launches once ever 2-3 days. This time it is Starlink 15-16 headed out to the south from Vandenburg Space Force Station from SLC 4E in California no earlier than 9:45PM PST (12:45AM EST). The payload for this flight is 27 Starlink V2 satellites to a polar orbit to continue to finish the shell of Starlink granting connectivity to the world. This is the 26th flight for B1082 previously flying on Transporter 18, NROL 145, USSF 62, One Web 20 and 21 Starlink launches. The first stage will separate at just after two minutes into flight and will land on a drone ship in the Pacific Ocean and will be recovered for the 26th time and then hopefully reflown for a 27th time later this year or next year! Not too long ago it would have been unheard of for booster to be reflown once, let alone 27 times we live in a world that our previous rocket nerd fans would have said was impossible! If you are local to SLC-4E you might be able to see the launch and the re-entry burn about 7 minutes or so into flight. The importance of these flights cannot be understated as it changes the dynamics of the world and connectivity to many, many people which previously did not have the ability to access information either due to geopolitical events or remote locations in which they live.
